Numerical Reservoir Simulation
The calculation of the flow fluids in a porous geological reservoir may become a difficult task.
As the reservoir properties are not uniquely the same but vary spatially a 3-dimensional geological model is set-up of the total geoogical structure including features like faults, fractures, or aqzuifers.
These models are discrete and the flow of gas and water or oil is calculated between the discrete grid blocks.
Simulation programs like Schlumberger's Eclipse can be used for this task. For geothermal problems or storage of hydrogen the program TOGH2, developed by Prues et. al. in the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory can be used.
CRE has licenses of these software as well as own developed features for pre- and post-processing of data.
